New Information is Being Released Regarding NBC's Fall Reboot

The next Quantum Leap revival on NBC is beginning to take shape.

The network said on Wednesday that the show will debut on Monday, September 19 at 10/9c (leading out of The Voice). Along with that information, more information regarding the plot was released.

It was previously just stated that "it has been 30 years since Dr. Sam Beckett (played by Scott Bakula in the original series) walked into the Quantum Leap accelerator and vanished without any more character breakdowns.

In an effort to relaunch the project and uncover the truth about the machine and the man who built it, a new team has been put together.

But as described in NBC's this week's storyline, it is evident what the entire ensemble of characters will be doing at home, and its new Leaper... leaps:

Nearly 30 years have passed since Dr. Sam Beckett entered the Quantum Leap accelerator and disappeared. Currently, a new team has been put together to resume the research in the hopes of unraveling the mysteries surrounding the device and the man who built it, led by scientist Ben Song (played by Raymond Lee in Kevin Can F**k Himself).

But when Ben takes an illegal trip into the past, leaving the crew behind to figure out why everything is turned upside down. Ben has Addison (Caitlin Bassett), a hologram that only Ben can see and hear, by his side for all of his leaps. She is a distinguished Army veteran who approaches her work with calm precision.

Herbert "Magic" Williams (Grace and Frankie's Ernie Hudson), a no-nonsense career military guy who has to answer to his employers who won't be happy once they discover about the breach of procedure, is in charge of the extremely secretive operation.

(Magic is also obviously a more mature adult version of a character Sam Beckett had met while serving in Vietnam.) The other members of the team at headquarters include Jenn Chou (Bosch's Nanrisa Lee), who is in charge of the project's digital security, and Ian Wright (Cowboy Bebop's Mason Alexander Park), who oversees the Artificial Intelligence division "Ziggy."

"Ben and the crew are on an exciting adventure, which is evident as he leaps from life to life, righting what previously went wrong. To get Ben home and solve the riddle of his leap, Addison, Magic, Ian, and Jenn are aware that they must move quickly or risk losing him for good.

The original show's creators Don Bellisario and Deborah Pratt, together with Martin Gero, will executive produce the remake, which will be written by the writing team Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt (God Friended Me, Gotham) (Stargate: Atlantis, Kung Fu).
